UPDATE 6/22/26 IN LESS THAN A YEAR RADICAL NEW ADVANCEMENTS IN AI ARE ALARMING - WORKING ON AN UPDATE NOW.

We are living through a technological revolution unlike any in human history.

Artificial Intelligence is advancing at breathtaking speed. Machines can now write, create images, imitate human voices, generate videos, answer questions, and increasingly perform tasks once reserved for human beings. Many experts believe AI will transform society as profoundly as the Industrial Revolution or the invention of the internet.

For Christians, the question is not whether AI exists. The question is: How should followers of Jesus respond?

TECHNOLOGY IS NOT OUR SAVIOR

Throughout history, mankind has repeatedly placed its hope in human achievement.

We build towers.

We create empires.

We develop powerful technologies.

And we convince ourselves that we are on the verge of solving the deepest problems of humanity. Yet Scripture teaches a different lesson. Our greatest problems are not technological. They are spiritual.

No machine can cure sin.

No algorithm can redeem a soul.

No software can reconcile man to God.

The danger is not that AI becomes too intelligent. The danger is that humanity once again places its faith in a creation rather than the Creator.

THE THREAT TO TRUTH

Jesus said: "I am the way and the truth and the life." (John 14:6)

Truth matters because God is truthful. But AI is arriving at a moment when truth itself is already under attack.

Deepfake videos can create events that never happened.

Artificial voices can imitate trusted leaders.

Images can be fabricated in seconds.

The ability to distinguish truth from falsehood may become increasingly difficult.

Christians must therefore become people of discernment.

The Ninth Commandment still matters.

Truth still matters.

The command to avoid bearing false witness has never been more relevant.

THE THREAT TO HUMAN DIGNITY

The Bible teaches that human beings are uniquely created in the image of God.

This is the foundation of human dignity.

AI can perform impressive tasks, but it is not created in God's image.

It does not possess a soul.

It cannot love God.

It cannot repent.

It cannot worship.

It cannot experience redemption.

As machines become more capable, Christians must resist the temptation to reduce human beings to biological computers or data points.

Our value comes not from productivity but from our Creator.

THE THREAT OF DEPENDENCE

Technology has always promised convenience.

AI promises even more.

It can write for us.

Think for us.

Research for us.

Create for us.

Eventually, many may be tempted to allow machines to make decisions for them.

But Scripture repeatedly calls believers to pursue wisdom.

Wisdom cannot be outsourced.

Discernment cannot be automated.

Faithfulness requires personal responsibility before God.

Christians must be careful not to surrender their minds to systems they neither understand nor control.

A BIBLICAL RESPONSE

How then should Christians respond?

Not with panic.

Not with blind acceptance.

But with wisdom.

We should use technology as a tool while refusing to worship it.

We should test every claim against Scripture.

We should defend truth in an age of deception.

We should defend human dignity in an age of automation.

And we should remember that our hope is not in technological progress but in Jesus Christ.

The Bible's final vision of the future is not humanity saved by machines.

It is Christ returning in glory.

Our task is therefore not to fear the future but to remain faithful within it.

THE CHOICE BEFORE US

Artificial Intelligence has become one of the most powerful technologies ever created. It is a tool, it can be used for tremendous good or tremendous evil.

But the greatest question is not what AI will become. The greatest question is what we will become.

Will we remain a people devoted to truth?

Will we remain a people who recognize the image of God in every human life? Will we protect that life?

Will we remain a people whose hope is found in Christ rather than in human achievement?

As followers of Jesus, our calling remains unchanged:

Take up your cross.

Follow Him.

And walk faithfully into whatever future lies ahead.
