THE MISSION AT TAKARA

We're happy to announce that we will be continuing our weekly Bible Study from this summer into Fall and, Lord willing into the Winter with the "Intro to the Gospel of John Bible Study" Sunday mornings from 6:45 to 8 at the Pool at Tacara (Kitchen and Grill Area).  ​Everyone is welcome - young and old - and regardless of religious affiliation. Our study is conducted in a non-denominational manner so we hope you will come check it out!

Rob Hurlburt is the lead teacher (w/ Rod Cordsen as co-teacher) and writer of the curriculum.  He is a licensed (1985) and ordained (1993) Southern Baptist Pastor who went to seminary at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary (MA Theological Studies) and was admitted to Princeton Theological Seminary (Psychology of Religion, PhD) before leaving and is on hiatus. He has taught at several churches and was the Youth Pastor at Riverbend Church in the early 90s.  He has an independent ministry focused mainly on Pro-Life and Pro-Family initiatives.  He has been a member at Hill Country Bible Church Steiner Ranch since 2019 but now proud since September to be a Charter Member of the new Lakeview Bible Church!  Revival is coming to Steiner Ranch!!

I'd been praying fervently for a band of brothers and sisters who love the Lord fiercely, and who could speak life into me. I desperately needed to hear from Him and feel His love and support through community. I asked my closest Christ fearing friends around the world to pray this prayer for me. I longed to be spurred on in my faith by hearing encouraging testimonies and the sharing of God's miracles.

 

When my kids and I stepped foot onto the Tacara property we felt God's peace and presence intensely. I could not stop thanking God for leading us here and apologizing for my resistance. We were invited by a resident to a Bible study shortly after settling in and I could not thank God enough for answering my prayers for community. When you're raising three kids in Christ a spiritual family is a lifeline!

 

I felt the love and authentic compassion the minute I met the group led by Rob Hurlburt. His studies are so compelling that when the group shares what God revealed to them I'm drawn closer to God in my personal walk. I love Rob's thoroughness and sound biblical doctrine. It's a breath of fresh air. As we study John the Baptist it's funny how I see parallels in his soul on fire for God and Rob's; boldly going where God calls and with joy in their hearts declaring the goodness of God that all may live in His fulness. Rob's walk with God and obedience to his calling is a true testament of our Father's workmanship. Let's bring heaven down together! What amazing conversations we had this summer!

 

With the study that took place on John, we were able to all collectively dive deep into the words and meaning of the scripture. This deep dive at times , I truly believe to had be guided by the Holy Spirit. Also, it helped me understand John 3:5 in a way that I never did before! In fact, because of our lessons and discussions together about John, I was able to confidently evangelize and share the gospel with a few people where as before this study, I don’t think I would have had the confidence to share. Thank you for helping in that, brother.

 

When I first heard about the outreach to the Tacara community with a bible study, I was on board.  Why was I on board? Well, because one of my brothers whom I love was leading the mission! From what started off at a men’s table on Thursday morning’s  at HCBC Steiner Bible Study, to what has now grown into personal relationships formed between many brothers from one table. Relationships we take with us through every day life now!

 

Having the personal relationships and brotherhood built and centered on Christ has been encouraging to take to the community! Hopefully more brothers and sisters can be brought to the universal family under our one and only savior, Jesus Christ. 

 

Brother Rob…. You are such a blessing to the community and what a blessing it is to go through another series this fall and to be part of the outreach with the community.
